Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information PractaPost collects, how we use it, and the rights you have under Canadian privacy law. Our practices comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
1. Who we are
The PractaPost website at practapost.com (the "Site") is operated by PractaPost Media, a sole proprietorship registered in Nova Scotia, Canada. PractaPost Media is the data controller for personal information collected through the Site. The owner is Matthew Uhlman.
2. What information we collect
We collect only the information necessary to respond to your inquiries and conduct our research. Specifically:
- Contact form submissions. When you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, practice name (optional), and message you provide.
- Scheduling information. When you book a research conversation through our scheduling link, the scheduling provider (Calendly) collects the information you provide to it. We receive your name, email address, and selected time slot.
- Research conversation notes. If you participate in a research conversation, we may take written notes about the topics discussed. These notes are kept confidential and are not attributed publicly without your consent.
- Server logs. Our website host may collect standard server logs (such as IP addresses, browser types, and page-access timestamps) for security and operational purposes.
We do not currently use analytics platforms or advertising trackers. The Site does not set any non-essential cookies.
3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide for the following purposes only:
- To respond to inquiries you submit through the contact form
- To schedule and conduct research conversations you have voluntarily booked
- To analyze patterns and themes from research conversations in aggregate (without identifying individuals)
- To improve the Site and the research program based on the feedback received
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not add you to any marketing or mailing list without your express consent.
4. Third-party services we use
The Site relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Formspree — processes contact-form submissions and forwards them to PractaPost Media
- Calendly — handles scheduling of research conversations
- Hostinger — provides website hosting infrastructure
- Google Fonts — serves the typography used on the Site
These providers process information only as needed to deliver their service to PractaPost Media. We choose providers with established privacy practices but are not responsible for their independent policies.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Contact form submissions and research conversation notes are typically retained for the duration of the active research program. You can request earlier deletion of your information at any time (see Section 7).
6. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the personal information in our care, including using established service providers, transmitting form data over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and limiting access to information to the business owner. No online transmission or storage method is fully secure, but we follow industry-standard practices appropriate to the sensitivity of the information collected.
7. Your rights under PIPEDA
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information
- Withdraw consent for our use of your information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions
- Request deletion of your information from our records
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have not handled your information appropriately
To exercise any of these rights, please submit a request through the contact form on the PractaPost homepage. We will respond within 30 days, in accordance with PIPEDA.
8. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us through the homepage contact form and we will delete that information.
9. International users
The Site is operated from Canada and is directed at users in Canada. If you access the Site from outside Canada, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
